Oscar Rodriguez, a passionate advocate for sustainable urban development, has been leading the Urban Green Initiative in San Francisco since 2022. As the director of this initiative and an instructor at Stanford University's environmental studies program, Oscar designs and teaches courses focused on green infrastructure, community engagement, and applying ecological principles to urban planning. He spearheads Stanford’s concentrations in Sustainable Urbanism & Ecology and Community Engagement & Green Infrastructure.

As a consultant, public speaker, author, and researcher, Oscar specializes in merging ecological science with urban development practices, focusing on creating livable cities that are resilient to climate change. His work delves into how urban spaces can be transformed into thriving ecosystems that support both human life and biodiversity. Rodriguez advises on various projects, from park renovations to city-wide sustainability plans, often serving as a go-to expert for media outlets covering urban ecology, sustainability, and their societal impacts.

Oscar is also a member of the advisory board for the Urban Sustainability Certificate program at UC Berkeley Extension and mentors several initiatives aimed at enhancing environmental literacy among youth. In addition to his academic contributions, he co-authored the book "Building Resilient Cities" with renowned ecologist Dr. Laura Martinez. Beyond publishing articles and participating in academic discourse, Oscar edits the Urban Ecology Review, an online journal committed to fostering dialogue between research and practice, pushing the boundaries of urban ecology to create more sustainable and harmonious living environments.
