Phoebe Brown

Motto:Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.
Phoebe Brown was born in Asheville, North Carolina, and grew up surrounded by the vibrant arts community of this Appalachian city. She pursued her undergraduate studies at Duke University, where she majored in biology with a minor in art history. Her academic journey then took her to Boston for medical school at Harvard University, followed by a residency in dermatology at Massachusetts General Hospital, which she completed in 2018.
With a strong dedication to patient care and education, Phoebe played an instrumental role in launching the Dermatology Outreach Program at Harvard Medical School in 2019. This program focuses on providing underserved communities with access to quality skin health services. Over the years, she has been recognized multiple times for her exceptional teaching skills and contributions to medical education. Today, she serves as the vice president of the American Academy of Dermatology and maintains an active presence in both clinical practice and academia.
Beyond her professional achievements, Phoebe has also embraced various leadership roles within hospital management. She has served as the chair of the Department of Dermatology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and is currently a member of the hospital's Ethics Committee. Committed to advancing her managerial acumen, Phoebe earned a Master's in Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and holds certifications in Healthcare Leadership from the Wharton School of Business.
Motivated by her experiences as a practicing physician and leader in healthcare, Phoebe established Healer’s Path, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering resilience and leadership among healthcare professionals. She is also a passionate advocate for mental health awareness in medicine and has authored a well-received book titled Healing Hands: Embracing Self-Care in Medicine, which shares personal insights and strategies for maintaining balance in the high-pressure world of medical practice.
When not working, Phoebe enjoys hiking the trails near her home, attending live music performances, and exploring new culinary adventures with her family and friends. She finds joy in blending her love for the arts with her commitment to healthcare, making a difference in the lives of those around her.
