Primrose Watson

Motto:The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
Primrose Watson has recently taken on the role of Lead Innovator at the Institute for Sustainable Technologies. She is also a Visiting Professor of Environmental Science at the Greenhaven University in Melbourne, with a collaborative position at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology’s Department of Environmental Studies. Her research and advocacy work bridge the gap between academic discourse and practical application, featuring in prestigious journals like the Nature Sustainability Journal, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, and Renewable Energy Focus, as well as popular media platforms such as The Guardian, ABC News, The Sydney Morning Herald, and Wired.
In her current project, Primrose focuses on renewable energy solutions tailored for remote communities in Australia. This initiative aims to enhance local resilience and sustainability through innovative technology. She regularly shares insights on these efforts on the Institute’s blog, Eco-Innovations, and previously led the Institute’s Task Force on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation.
Primrose earned her B.Sc. with honors from the University of Queensland, her M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University, where she was recognized as a Global Sustainability Leader, and her Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Cambridge University, during which she held a fellowship with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
As of April 2024, Primrose continues to inspire and lead in the field of sustainable technologies, advocating for a greener future for all.
