Reginald Thompson, Ph.D., is an esteemed Professor of Environmental Health at Boston University, Massachusetts, and holds a concurrent position as Visiting Professor at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Reginald's research focuses on the intersection between environmental challenges and public health, emphasizing how climate adaptation can enhance community resilience. His work spans three key areas: (i) urban sustainability and the promotion of healthy city living; (ii) disaster preparedness in vulnerable coastal regions, ensuring communities are better equipped to handle extreme weather events; and (iii) fostering environmental education to promote sustainable practices among younger generations. He has recently published a book titled "Resilience by Design: Crafting Sustainable Futures for Urban Environments".

On a crisp autumn morning in October 2024, Reginald embarked on a new chapter from his office overlooking the Charles River. With Boston's skyline as his backdrop, he planned to launch an innovative project aimed at integrating green infrastructure into urban planning, thereby reducing the impact of flooding in low-lying neighborhoods. This initiative would not only mitigate natural risks but also contribute to healthier living conditions for residents. Through partnerships with local government and non-profit organizations, Reginald envisioned a future where cities could thrive sustainably, even in the face of growing environmental uncertainties.
