Ruby Knight

Motto:Fear always springs from ignorance.
Ruby Knight, an inspiring figure in the world of environmental science and community leadership, has recently taken on a new role as an assistant professor at the University of Colorado Boulder. Ruby completed her Ph.D. in Environmental Science with a focus on sustainable urban development from Stanford University. She also holds a master’s degree in Environmental Policy from Harvard University and a bachelor’s in Biology and Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Ruby's passion lies in exploring how communities can thrive sustainably while preserving natural resources. Her research delves into innovative solutions for reducing urban carbon footprints and promoting green spaces within cities. In addition to her academic pursuits, Ruby is an avid advocate for outdoor education and has led numerous initiatives to connect young people with nature.
In 2023, Ruby moved to Boulder, Colorado, where she not only teaches but also actively participates in local environmental projects. She has organized several city-wide clean-up days and spearheaded a campaign to plant over a thousand trees across the city parks. Ruby's efforts have earned her recognition as a leading voice in the environmental movement, and she was awarded the Green Hero Award by the Sierra Club in early 2024.
Ruby's book, "Roots of Change: Building Sustainable Communities from the Ground Up," published by Cambridge University Press, offers practical advice and inspiring stories that encourage readers to take action in their own neighborhoods. Through her work, Ruby Knight demonstrates that with dedication and vision, each one of us can contribute to a healthier planet.
