Sam Phoenix Wilson, Ph.D., is a distinguished Research Fellow at the University of Auckland, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, contributing to the Department of Global Public Health. He completed his doctoral studies in Biomedical Ethics at the university in 2015.

Sam is an accredited Clinical Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychological Society (NZPsS). His research spans various domains including innovative therapeutic interventions like mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), exploring the role of therapy in enhancing community well-being, psychological resilience models, public health ethics, pain management strategies, integrating psychology with emerging technologies, machine learning (ML), and crafting policies for the ethical deployment of ML in healthcare settings.

Recently, Sam has been instrumental in formulating guidelines for the Auckland Regional Government in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, focusing on the intersection of public health and ML. Additionally, he has co-authored a comprehensive guidebook titled "The Future of Health: Integrating Technology and Human Care," published by Oxford University Press, which explores the evolving landscape of healthcare delivery in the digital age.

With a passion for advancing both clinical practice and academic scholarship, Sam continues to bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and compassionate patient care, setting new standards in the field.
