Sophia Simmons

Motto:It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
Sophia Simmons, a certified music therapist and the head of therapeutic arts at Harmony Haven in Southern California, has dedicated her career to transforming lives through the power of music. Since joining Harmony Haven in early 2023, Sophia has been instrumental in developing programs that cater to children with special needs, offering them a platform to express themselves and grow emotionally and socially.
Sophia's work extends beyond traditional therapy sessions; she has integrated music into daily routines to help kids manage anxiety and improve their communication skills. In addition to her hands-on work, Sophia is passionate about researching the impact of music on mental health. She recently co-authored a study exploring how rhythmic activities can aid children with autism spectrum disorder, which was featured in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders this past March.
Her innovative approach to therapy and commitment to her community have made Sophia a respected figure in the field. Through her efforts, many families have found hope and support, learning how music can be a powerful tool for healing and development.
