Thomas Jenkins, DPA, has dedicated himself to enhancing community resilience and support systems in the wake of natural disasters from 2021 until the present. He is a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, where he serves as an associate professor and director of the disaster management program at Tulane University. Before this role, Thomas spent over two decades working with various local government agencies.

In 2023, when Hurricane Serena struck the Gulf Coast, Thomas was instrumental in coordinating relief efforts that significantly improved recovery outcomes for affected families. His expertise in public administration, complemented by his doctorate in the field, along with a master's in disaster management and bachelor's degrees in environmental science and sociology, enabled him to craft innovative solutions that addressed both immediate and long-term challenges faced by communities post-disaster.

Thomas not only focuses on academic contributions but also remains deeply involved in practical applications of his research. By fostering partnerships between universities, governmental bodies, and non-profit organizations, he strives to build stronger, more adaptable communities that can better withstand future crises.
