Motto:The best way to face uncertainty is with courage and a plan B.
Tyler Johnson, Ph.D., is a full-time associate professor of psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. Tyler is based in the vibrant city of San Francisco, where he not only teaches but also serves as a research advisor at the Institute for Personal Growth and Innovation. He specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and has a thriving private practice that focuses on helping individuals overcome anxiety and depression.
In recent years, Tyler has been particularly interested in how technology can enhance therapeutic outcomes. His latest project, launched in April 2024, involves developing an app designed to support people in managing their mental health using CBT principles. The app includes interactive features such as mood tracking, personalized coping strategies, and virtual reality exposure therapy sessions.
Tyler's dedication to advancing the field of psychology is evident in his contributions to academic literature. He has written extensively on the integration of technology into therapy, with his newest book, "Embracing Digital Tools in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy," hitting the shelves in June 2024. Tyler has also co-authored several articles in top-tier journals, contributed to the third edition of a leading textbook on CBT, and developed training guides for therapists specializing in adolescent mental health, workplace stress management, and digital therapy platforms.
Outside of academia, Tyler enjoys engaging with the community, offering workshops and seminars that make psychological concepts accessible to everyone. His approachable demeanor and passion for mental wellness have made him a beloved figure among students and patients alike.
