Tyler James Scott

Tyler James Scott, Psy.D., is a dedicated clinical psychologist and Chief Wellness Officer for Mental Health Initiatives at the San Francisco Department of Public Health.
Born and raised in the vibrant coastal town of Santa Cruz, California, Scott developed a deep passion for mental health advocacy from an early age. He pursued this calling by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Stanford University, followed by a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco, and ultimately achieving his Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University.
Over the past 18 years, Scott has been instrumental at Pacific Coast Wellness Center, a renowned community mental health clinic in San Francisco. As the Director of Behavioral Health Services, he launched the groundbreaking Mindful Living Program, which integrates mindfulness practices into therapy to help individuals with anxiety disorders and depression. This innovative program has received accolades for its success in improving mental health outcomes.
Scott also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco's School of Nursing and Health Professions, where he has mentored numerous graduate students in the art and science of clinical psychology.
A former board member of the California Psychological Association (CPA), Scott remains active in shaping mental health policy on both state and national platforms. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field, he was awarded the CPA Advocacy Award in 2022. An avid supporter of mental health awareness, Scott was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the San Francisco chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in 2023.
