Ursuline Phillips, Ph.D., is a distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of British Columbia and a certified Clinical Psychologist with a focus on enhancing mental health awareness, trauma recovery, and community engagement. Dr. Phillips graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from McGill University in Montreal and earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Toronto. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto and furthered her expertise through a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology at Stanford University.
Dr. Phillips joined the faculty at UBC in 2018 and has since become an influential figure in the Psychology Department, serving as the Director of Community Outreach Programs. She passionately teaches courses on Trauma-Informed Care and Public Mental Health, aiming to bridge the gap between academic research and practical application. Over the years, she has contributed significantly to the field by publishing articles in esteemed journals such as The Journal of Traumatic Stress, Community Mental Health Journal, and Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, and Policy.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Phillips maintains a dedicated clinical practice where she works closely with individuals affected by trauma and advocates for improved mental health policies. Her work has not only enriched the academic community but has also made a profound impact on the lives of many in Vancouver and beyond.
