Valentina Marquez, Ph.D., is a celebrated Professor of Cultural Studies at the University of Buenos Aires and has been honored with Argentina’s most prestigious accolade for outstanding contributions to education.

Described as “brilliant and witty” by Time Out Buenos Aires and “Very, very insightful. For a scholar,” by Juan Martinez, Valentina was named a “cultural critique visionary” by Vision Magazine. Valentina penned the critically acclaimed bestseller titled From Tango to Tech: Women's Strategic Use of Innovation in Latin America, alongside her memoirs Dancing Between Worlds: A Personal Journey Through Academic and Artistic Fusion, and her anthology of essays, Urban Legends and Other Myths. She has also authored six additional books that have been translated into languages such as English, French, Arabic, Russian, and Korean; she has edited twelve more, including Voices Unheard: Stories from the Southern Cone, The City Speaks: An Anthology of Urban Humor, and Chronicles of Change: 50 Essays on Contemporary Culture.

A familiar face on Radio Nacional, BBC World Service, CBC Radio One, CNN en Español, and even TED Talks, Valentina has addressed audiences from all corners of the globe, discussing innovation, empowerment, cultural dynamics, media representation, and literature. Valentina’s blog on Medium boasts over 10 million views and her forthcoming book, Fearless Females in Focus, is set for release in 2025.
