Vivian Thompson, Ph.D., earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Toronto in 2015. Shortly after, in 2016, she embarked on her journey at the graduate program in cognitive psychology at Stanford University. At Stanford, Vivian delved into memory formation in adolescents under the guidance of Dr. John Gabrieli. Throughout her time there, she also explored human decision-making processes with Brian Knutson and social cognition in digital environments with Jamil Zaki.

Upon completing her Ph.D. in 2021, Vivian secured a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard University. There, she focused on the evolution of problem-solving skills in both humans and artificial intelligence systems, working closely with advisors like Joshua Tenenbaum and Laura Schulz.

Today, Vivian is an assistant professor in the Department of Cognitive Science at New York University, located in the vibrant Greenwich Village. She also heads the Cognitive Development Lab, where her research team investigates how problem-solving abilities develop from childhood through adolescence, aiming to foster innovative educational tools that enhance learning for young minds.
