Wyatt Castro

Wyatt Castro is a distinguished Lecturer in Digital Innovation at the University of Melbourne's School of Computing and Information Systems. He co-founded the Melbourne Centre for Data Science, which he has directed since its inception in 2018. Wyatt is also instrumental in establishing the university’s new Tech Ventures Initiative, an interdisciplinary program aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
Wyatt received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from MIT in 2005 and joined the University of Melbourne faculty shortly thereafter. Among his publications are influential books such as "AI: The New Frontier of Business Strategy," which won the Book of the Year award from the Australian Business Press in 2021, and "The Future of Work: Human-AI Collaboration," selected as one of the most impactful books on technology and society in 2023.
Wyatt has consulted with leading companies across various sectors, including Telstra, CSIRO, NAB, and Google, helping them integrate advanced technologies into their operations. In recent years, he has delivered keynote addresses at major events such as the Asia-Pacific AI Expo in Sydney, the Global Innovation Summit in Singapore, and the Digital Transformation Forum in Brisbane. Moreover, he leads executive education programs at the University of Melbourne, focusing on AI Leadership and Strategic Digital Transformation, educating hundreds of professionals annually.
