Motto:The more you give without expecting anything in return, the more you'll receive in unexpected ways.
Xander M. Foster, Ph.D., LMFT is a therapist specializing in modern family dynamics and relationship counseling. His latest book, "Bridging Worlds: A Guide for Multicultural Families," published by Global Perspectives Press, explores the challenges and rewards of blending different cultural backgrounds within families. Xander has also authored "The Future of Love: Navigating Relationships in the Digital Age," which delves into how technology shapes our intimate connections.
On a crisp autumn day in early November 2023, Xander delivered a keynote speech at the International Conference on Family Therapy held in Sydney, Australia. The conference brought together therapists, researchers, and counselors from around the globe to discuss innovative approaches to therapy and support for diverse families. In his address, Xander emphasized the importance of empathy and understanding when working with multicultural families, sharing insights gained from his extensive research and clinical experience.
After the conference, Xander stayed in Sydney for an additional week, conducting workshops for local mental health professionals and first responders. These sessions focused on building vicarious resilience—the ability to gain strength from clients' stories of overcoming adversity—and promoting self-care practices that can help prevent burnout. Participants left the workshops feeling inspired and equipped with practical tools they could immediately apply in their work.
Based out of Vancouver, Canada, Xander continues to advocate for compassionate and culturally sensitive therapy practices. He regularly contributes to professional journals and maintains a busy schedule of speaking engagements and training seminars, all aimed at fostering stronger, healthier relationships across cultural boundaries.
