Over the past decade, she has explored various aspects of digital culture, social media impacts, and virtual community formation in countries like Japan, Brazil, Canada, and across Scandinavia. Yolanda's work delves into how technology shapes human interactions, focusing on online support groups for elderly users embracing digital platforms, the role of social networks in fostering intergenerational connections, and the effects of remote work on family dynamics in rural areas of Finland.

Currently, Yolanda serves as an Associate Professor at McGill University in Montreal, where her latest research project examines the integration of augmented reality in educational settings. She earned her doctorate in Cultural Anthropology from Harvard University. Her recent book, "Embracing the Digital Wave: The Transformation of Societal Bonds," was published by Oxford University Press in the fall of 2023 and has received critical acclaim for its insightful exploration of modern connectivity.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Yolanda is passionate about promoting digital literacy among underserved communities. Last summer, she led a series of workshops in Toronto aimed at empowering participants with the skills needed to navigate the online world safely and effectively. Through her engaging public speaking and commitment to making complex topics accessible, Yolanda continues to bridge the gap between academia and everyday life.
