Female, 25, very confused about career planning, not sure how to go about it or where to start? By Anonymous | Published on December 18, 2024

I am currently an English teacher for young children, but I find that I don't particularly like being an English teacher. However, I really want to make children happier and healthier. Whenever a parent asks me about their child's problems and how to solve them, I feel especially proud and happy when I can provide a solution. So I think I might be more suitable to become a home education instructor, because I truly hope that every child grows up mentally healthy and happy. But I don't know how to go about this path, where do I start? Because I have never been exposed to it before, do I need to pay to train at a training institution or what?

Can someone tell me what I need to do to achieve my goal of becoming a home education instructor, counselor, emotional analyst, or whatever, so that I can help my future family life and the people around me, and if society needs it, I can also help society and the country? I'm really confused right now. Do I need to quit my job as an English teacher? Where do I start in this field?

Hello! I just wanted to say, first of all, that I think you're absolutely amazing! From what you've written, it's clear that you're a very caring person who also places a lot of importance on self-growth and showing what you're capable of. I'm sure the children who have grown up under your guidance are very happy!

I'm really curious to know what happened in your English teaching journey that made you dislike your current job.

It's time to weigh up your financial situation regarding whether to quit your job!

If you quit your job, you'll need to have at least six months of savings, a stable customer base, and strong development capabilities. But don't worry! You can absolutely make this happen.

If you don't quit your job, then arrange study time outside of your main job to learn the knowledge and skills related to what you want to do in the future!

Absolutely! Abilities are cultivated through learning and practice.

Family education instructor, counselor, and emotional analyst are all titles. The most important thing is to decide which field you want to focus on in your future direction: parent-child? Both sexes?

Are you ready to take the next step in your personal growth journey? Get your priorities straight and choose a headhunting agency that is relevant to you.

Absolutely! You will definitely have to invest money, time, and energy. And you should also ask yourself whether quitting your job and devoting yourself entirely to studying without any income in the early stages will affect your daily life and state of mind.

When it comes to choosing an institution, I'm not going to make a specific recommendation to avoid any potential issues with advertising. But don't worry! You can easily compare through various online channels. And to help you out, I've got three pieces of advice from experience that I'm excited to share with you!

1. The teacher you choose is the one who gets amazing results!

2. This teacher can personally guide you through your studies, which is much better than just putting a name on a list!

3. There are no bad reviews, or just a few!

I really hope these answers are helpful to you! I also hope that you have every success on your path of helping others and accompanying children on their journey to healthy growth.

First of all, congratulations on discovering your career interests at 25.

Search for career information on apps like Zhihu Q&A and Douban Life. Learn about job responsibilities and what the industry needs. Explore which companies lead the industry. Their business model shows industry standards, not that you must join these companies.

Next, find out about the career path. This may sound complicated, but you will find lots of information. Start by searching for home education instructors.

If you still like the profession, I suggest you just enroll in the course. This is because the money will help you meet like-minded people quickly.

You will have a teacher to guide you, so you will avoid a lot of detours. Saving your own time is the most important thing!

If you don't have a heavy financial burden and your family is fine with you not working to prepare for the exam, you can quit your job. But if quitting your job is your last resort, I advise against it.

If you don't have enough time, we can take it slow. The worst that can happen is that you'll have to fight for your rights in the Second World War. "In most cases, institutions won't charge tuition twice."

See the instructor as a side business. There's plenty of time, so take your time.

I must say that I am envious to observe that you are only 25 years of age. It is a most auspicious period in your life. You are young, yet you are already contemplating your future and embarking upon your career planning. I commend you for this initiative.

With regard to the role of family education instructors, this is a relatively recent addition to the field, having emerged following the enactment of the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Promoting Family Education" (effective January 1, 2022) last year. The objective of this legislation is to perpetuate the longstanding tradition of the Chinese nation's emphasis on family education, guiding the entire society to accord due attention to the family, family education and family traditions. In addition, the law seeks to enhance family happiness and social harmony, while also cultivating a new generation of socialist builders and successors who have undergone comprehensive moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and vocational development. Furthermore, the state has also stipulated that educational institutions, including kindergartens, are required to employ family education instructors.

As an English teacher for young children and a member of the education system, you possess numerous advantages should you opt to transition into a role as a home education instructor. Upon completion of the requisite course, "Training Materials for Home Education Instructors," and subsequent fulfillment of the training assessment, you may submit an application for the position of home education instructor in various units.

Passing this examination should not be a significant challenge; however, as with any career path, excelling in this role will require a substantial investment of time and effort. Family education guidance necessitates a comprehensive understanding of psychology, education, ethics, traditional culture, and other related domains. To effectively support and guide others, it is essential to integrate and apply this knowledge throughout one's professional journey.

Given the circumstances, it is not advisable to leave one's position as an English teacher for young children in order to become a full-time home education instructor or emotional analyst. One's experience as an English teacher for young children can serve as a valuable foundation for pursuing these roles.

I would like to extend my sincerest congratulations to you, young man, and I hope that your aspirations will be fulfilled in the near future.

Hello, host! I'm 25 years old and currently a young children's English teacher. I have discovered that I am more concerned about their mental health, so I am torn between leaving my job and choosing a new career.

I understand the confusion and indecision of the original poster. At 25, it's still a short time since you left school and entered society, and it's normal to feel confused about career orientation and planning.

The original poster is a kind and caring teacher. She provides children with knowledge and also ensures their healthy psychological development. A healthy mind is more important than learning basic math.

Children are lucky to have you as their teacher. You are good at thinking and discovering. They will realize how lucky they are to have you in their education. I am happy for you that you discovered what you want to do at 25.

The original poster should read Li Shanyou's "Second Curve Innovation" carefully. It contains many ideas that are worth learning from. The model "S curve" is mentioned many times in the book. As Mr. Li Shanyou said, the scope of application of the S curve is extremely wide. You can substitute it into the development cycle of almost everything, including one's career and development plan.

★★★It's time to break away from some fixed ways of thinking. When we reach a limit in work or life, we need to enter the second curve to find a new breakthrough. Countless business giants throughout the ages and in all corners of the world, as well as the vast and star-studded changes of civilization, have distilled their essence and condensed their wisdom into classic theories and vivid cases that hit the nail on the head. This is proven wisdom.

This also applies to personal career development.

Your first career move should be being an English teacher for children. This is an excellent way to accumulate good contacts and resources. Have you made full use of the existing platform to maximize its value, improve your communication skills, teaching skills, and writing skills, and accumulate contacts and resources? This is the best preparation for changing careers later.

You can stay in your job for now. Use this time to gain experience and prepare for the new family education instructor certificate. There are many ways to learn and test, including in the community and online.

Once you've made the necessary preparations, you should resign from your job as an English teacher and focus on providing home education guidance.

Read Classical Teacher's "What's Possible in Your Life." It talks about the perfect career model, the "Career Clover Model." You will have more mature thinking and planning for your career after reading it.

I am certain that the host will achieve great things in their field of choice!

Hello, teacher. I love teachers who love early childhood education. You are 25 years old, with infinite possibilities waiting for you.

It's great to have career goals when you're young. I envy you!

Let's chat about this.

You like children, so working in early childhood education is a great opportunity for you. You say you don't like being a teacher, but you want to be a family educator or a psychological counselor. If it weren't for teaching English and having more contact with young children, you might not have been able to see your career preferences so clearly so soon.

Be grateful for what you've learned from this job.

— Both a tutor and a counselor are in the field of psychology. The knowledge required for an early childhood teacher is also needed. Educational psychology is a common course for teacher training majors. Have you dabbled in this area?

I have these two certificates. For nearly ten years, I have been growing myself and integrating them into my work to improve myself and help others.

You gain a lot of psychological knowledge through experience. There are now many exams for various learning certificates. The psychological counseling industry is expensive and requires learning. Are you prepared for this?

Many child education and psychological counselors have work experience in kindergartens or work part-time in early childhood education after completing their studies. Child psychology workers must also observe and learn from children. Your current job is a great opportunity if you want to study in-depth psychological counseling or family education.

If you want to devote yourself to this profession and give up your current job as an English teacher, I hope you can weigh the pros and cons carefully. This is just my opinion, and I hope it can inspire you.

Hello, questioner! I understand your confusion and anxiety about your career. In today's world, it's rare and valuable to have the opportunity to calm down and think about what kind of career you like and how to achieve your ideal goals.

First, I want to give you a big hug.

As a career counselor, I am going to share some of my views, which I am certain will be helpful to you.

1. Analyze your current career.

If you say you don't particularly like being an English teacher, you need to figure out exactly why. Is it the teaching aspect that you don't like, the content, the repetitive lesson preparation, or the feeling that the students can't absorb what you're saying?

You must analyze what you do well and what you don't do well in your current position, whether or not you want to change to a new position in the future.

You can definitely work as a home education instructor in the future. The basic skills required for this job, such as communication skills, the ability to get along with people, and the ability to coordinate, can all be honed in your current job. They will provide support for your future work.

If you can't support yourself with your new job, the best thing you can do is practice these basic skills while you look for a job.

2. State your future goals clearly.

You say you want to be a home education instructor. What are the specific application requirements for this profession? What is the market demand? Which customers do you serve? How do you enter this field? What is the income and work content like? Have you looked into any of this?

You say you don't know anything, so you're asking me. I'll tell you whether this career is right for you. You're not sure, but I can help you find out.

If you're truly committed, you've undoubtedly researched the matter extensively before making such a bold claim.

I know people who specialize in family education guidance, and there are also many related courses and training institutions on the market. Search on BaiZhiGu and start contacting the relevant people or courses. You'll gain a better understanding of the industry.

You said you want to do work that can help yourself and your friends, such as family education consultants, emotional analysts, and so on. This scope is too broad. You have to subdivide these specific occupations. You need to decide whether you want to serve families, children, or adults who are experiencing emotional confusion. The career choices are very different.

3. I need to know exactly what I should do.

You should not quit your job without fully understanding and preparing yourself. In addition, given the current very severe environment, if you do not first determine your future direction, you will never be able to cultivate relevant abilities and accumulate relevant resources. This means that you will never be able to find your ideal career.

First, think carefully and start from the heart. Carefully analyze what you like about the job content, the working environment, and the specific service targets. Then, do some external research to see which specific position on the market can meet these needs of yours, what the real working environment is like, and what the feedback from people who have been there is like.

Finally, take steps in this direction again. Accumulate experience and capabilities, optimize your resume, actively enter relevant circles, accumulate relevant resources, and gradually improve your irreplaceability and sense of professional value until your work reflects your ideal.

I'm confident you'll succeed and find your ideal career soon!

At 25, it's totally normal to feel a little lost about your future career. It's a time when very few people can have a clear plan for their career, especially in this era of constant change!

"Do you need to quit your job as an English teacher?" Absolutely not! Your current occupation doesn't conflict with the exciting new path you're pursuing. In fact, it provides you with incredible "practical opportunities." Without this occupation, the questioner might not have discovered their passion for becoming a home education instructor or emotional analyst.

If the questioner wants to quit their job, they may feel that in order to start a new career, they need to leave an existing career first and devote 100% of their time to the new career. This is a great way to be considered "truly career-minded"!

If the questioner has no financial worries, they can definitely try this approach! If there is pressure to survive, I think the questioner can absolutely keep their current job and devote their spare time to learning about the new career they want to pursue. You can learn while "practicing" in the process of teaching English, learning by teaching—it's a great way to gain experience!

And when the time is right, you can become a full-time home education instructor, an emotional analyst, or anything else your heart desires!

"Where do I start in this area?" By "where do I start," I understand that the questioner wants to learn about it systematically — and I'm here to help!

There are so many great resources out there for you to explore! You can search online for training institutions in this field and follow their courses. You can also buy some books on the subject yourself, such as developmental psychology.

The great thing is, you can also buy books or take relevant training based on the knowledge points you feel you need in your contact with parents and children.

I don't think the questioner needs to feel particularly lost right now, because you have already started down the path of homeschooling, albeit unwittingly. And that's a great thing! Whenever a parent asks me what problems their child has and how to solve them, I provide a solution.

The questioner's confusion and disorientation may be because the questioner feels that there should be a clear line of demarcation, but in reality, clear lines are rare. This is an exciting time because most things start in this kind of imperceptible way, and several lines are being pursued at the same time!

I am absolutely thrilled to be able to help! I really hope that you find the parts of my reply that help you to be of benefit. Wishing you the very best!

Florence Key Success is a matter of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; knowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose.

You seem very empathetic and solutionoriented, which are great qualities for a home education instructor. I think before quitting your job, you could look into parttime courses or online programs that specialize in child development and education. That way, you can ease into the transition.
